Ms. Julia Hong possesses 17 years of practical experience in human resource management, organizational strategy design and development, echeloned talent training, coaching, corporate culture building and other aspects in multinational companies. Prior to joining in AMA (China), Julia served in senior management positions as the Country Head of HR and Compliance Officer, the Head of HR and Communication in Novartis (China) and Novo Nordisk (China).

During her employment at Novartis (China), Ms. Hong focused on comprehensive organizational design, human resource strategy, and building of Novartis China University. She also worked as an in-house trainer. As a member of CCM, she cooperated with 8 business divisions, supported the company’s rapid development in organization and talent strategy formulation and project design. The strategies integrated the middle and long term business objectives and strategies in China, and also are pertinent to different business divisions’ industry, property( from R&D, pilot test, production to sales), development stage and scale.

In Novartis University, Ms. Hong built a talent pipeline with tailored various training programs to support to the need of employees, managers at all levels and senior management who are in different career development stages, which provided an all-in-one talent development scheme and attracted numerous talents to join Novartis. In 2009, Ms. Hong launched China Retention Project, which quickly reduced the turnover rate to 50% of the industry level over the same period within 12 months, much lower than other peers. Novartis was entitled the 2009 CCTV “Best Employer” by virtue of its great commitment in talent development and corporate culture building.

During her employment at Novo Nordisk (China), Ms. Hong accumulated experiences in human resource management, organizational design, corporate culture building and public relations. Ms. Hong led a team built up by her own to establish and set up an entire human resource system, designed a new performance appraisal system with a competency model customized to the company’s hyper-growth. The 13 traits of a talent are both easy to understand and simple to use. Moreover, Ms. Hong also initiated the employer branding and culture communication, from organization vision, to “Employee Care” program which was committed to providing meticulous care to employees’ daily work and life. As a result, the employee satisfaction reached a record; thus honored the “2003 Best Employer in China” by Hewitt.

In her spare time, Ms. Hong works as a corporate mentor in the School of Business, Renmin University of China (RBS). She shares her thoughts over topics like efficient life, career rules in Dialogue Forum. She personally coach 3 MBAs and helps to design the MBA credit courses.

As a guest speaker, Ms. Hong has been invited to attend the 51job Human Capital Forum, the 9th Organization Development Annual Meeting hosted by HR Excellence Center and the TopHR Forum, during which she shared experiences on talent development and corporate culture building with human resources and corporate management specialists from various industries and has received positive responses. Ms. Hong has been successively entitled by the Asia-Pacific HR Research Association and Fortune Magazine as a Top 10 HR Manager in China. She has also won many other awards including Rober Mundell World Executive HR Awards, China Top 100 CHO and Top HR Manager awarded by School of Business, Renmin University of China.

Ms. Hong graduated from Nankai University with a degree in Biochemistry. In 1999, she went to the USA to study and obtained her MBA degree. Since 2004, Ms. Hong took the position of trainer to deliver topics on leadership and was certified as a Co-Active coach in 2011. Ms. Hong has a highly appealing and diversified coaching style focusing on students’ deep aspiration and needs. She is willing to share her work and life experience in forms of stories with participants in a systematic and patient manner. She is also committed to guiding students to exert their potential. She is good at putting abstract theories into simple and feasible practices to convenient participants, thus making them willing to try and get the joy of learning with lifelong benefits.
