The Arbinger Institute attributes the cause to Ways of Being. As people can choose different external behavior, they can also have different ways of being. There are basically two kinds of Ways of Being: Out of the Box (responsive type) and Into the Box (resistance type). The responsive type (Out of the Box) believes that other people are equally important as us ourselves, while the resistance type (Into the Box) argues that other people are less important than ourselves.
Conflicts would probably break out when two parties are both Into the Box. And then conflicts between two boxes might be extended to two groups of boxes. How can we stop self-rationalization and values attacking, and go out of the box to collaborate with each other?
AMA’s latest program “Choice” is developed by the Arbinger Institute to solve this problem. The Arbinger Institute has studied humanities for many years.
