Activity Review: WIAL-East China Action Learning Experience Seminar Completed Successfully in Beijing on April 17th
2013-05-02
On April 17th, 2013, a WIAL-East China Action Learning Experience Seminar was successfully held at the Jianguo Garden Hotel in Beijing. Well-known companies in pharmaceutical, IT and other industries were invited to participate in this seminar. Jason Zheng, AMA’s Action Learning Director and Certified Action Learning Coach, made an introduction on action learning and acted as the Action Learning Coach (ALC) of one Demo group. The Certified Action Learning Coach — Charles Ning was also invited to act as the ALC of the other Demo group.
In the subsequent Q&A section, some participants said that they had organized Action Learning internally, which was appreciated by their relevant leadership but did not achieve their expected objectives or optimize Action Learning’s effect. Through this Demo however, they realized their deficiencies and the corresponding reasons. Some participants also presented that it is crucial for the Action Learning members to master "problem solving" skills since members sometimes are not familiar with the application of such skills. For this problem, Jason pointed out that in Action Learning all the problems can be jointly solved by the team members; it doesn’t require all members to become the "expert". A workshop can be conducted before the Action Learning, or the team can learn independently to replenish required knowledge.
We are very pleased to see the participants having a better understanding and recognition on Action Learning after the demo. We would like to continue promoting the popularization and application of Action Learning among Chinese enterprises to realize its value for both individuals and organizations.
